It’s the end of the first week and there have been no major surprises as lawmakers introduced their legislation for the first regular annual session of the legislature. Here is a list of bills we are following.  You will notice that the bill numbers are hyperlinked and will get you access to a copy of the bills we are following.

This first week bills are generally getting a quick vetting by legislators, lobbyists and the public. A few public hearings have been held. The big one earlier this week featured Gov. John Kitzhaber outlining his bill (SB 1581) to flesh out the Oregon Education Investment Board placing P-20 education policy making and management under one board with a  Chief Education Officer at the controls.

The Legislature’s schedule provides daily schedules of hearings for the day and scheduled into the future along with bills up for full action by the Legislature. If you’d like to browse further into the Legislature, a good place to begin is this site where you can find any information you need on legislative issues.
