COSA, ODE launch HS Diploma Toolkit for administrators Print E-mail

oregon-diploma.gif COSA and ODE today launched a new Web page to provide administrators with resources to assist with communication, planning and implementation related to Oregon new diploma requirements.  The page, "Administrators Toolkit: 10 Tools to Help Implement the Oregon Diploma," includes:

  • Guiding Principles, Requirements and Timelines
  • Sample Board Policy and OARs
  • Planning Tools and Document Templates
  • PowerPoint Presentation including Talking Points
  • Newsletter Articles
  • FAQs and Related Links

The Toolkit was developed this summer, as COSA and ODE convened a group of administrators from around the state to form the COSA Toolkit Task Force, in the belief that as new, more rigorous diploma requirements take effect, administrators may need tools and information to help with planning, communication and implementation.

The resources on the Toolkit page will continue to be improved and augmented over time. Many of the tools -- including templates, presentation and newsletter articles -- can be modified for use in local schools and districts.

"We hope administrators find this toolkit helpful, and we encourage leaders to send us diploma-related tools and resources they are willing to share with their colleagues via this Web page," Colin Cameron, COSA Director of Professional Development, said.  Those who have comments, suggestions or tools and resources to share should contact Cameron, Suzanne Dalton or Craig Hawkins at COSA.  Those who have specific questions about the Oregon Diploma should contact Theresa Levy or Michelle Hooper at ODE.
