Elementary Principals share creative projects via Pioneer Awards Print E-mail

Each year, elementary principals from around the state submit their best projects to share with their colleagues.  OESPA presents Pioneer Awards to schools that have outstanding projects that are unique in nature and adaptable for use in other schools. 

The eight 2008 winning schools and their projects are:

  • Bear Creek Stewardship Project – Principal: Pam Zaklan, Wilson Elementary
  • Caring, Giving, Sharing and Then Some – Principal Barbara Headden, Conger Elementary
  • Math BINGO – Principal: Linda St. Pierre, Washington Elementary
  • One of the Eight: A Proactive Approach to Reducing the Dropout Rate of Hispanics in Oregon Schools – Program Coordinator: Jorge Padilla, ELL Coordinator, Grants Pass SD
  • Read to Feed Project – Principal: Patricia Monson, Liberty Elementary
  • Terra Linda Student Care Council – Principal: Cheryl Ames, Terra Linda Elementary
  • The Historical and Geographical Museum of the United States – Principal: Kelly Beard, Pine Grove Elementary
  • The London Art/Science Dome Project – Principal: Laurie Klein, London Elementary
