Nomimate an elementary principal for the NDP Award Print E-mail

Think about an exemplary elementary principal in your area.  Then, consider nominating that person for the National Distinguished Principal Award.  In addition to the recipient being honored, the award will increase public awareness of the importance of the principalship through media coverage.

To encourage participation in the award process in Oregon, the nominator (or nominee) will complete an initial application by filling out the NDP Application Packet except for the four “School Leadership Statements” found on page six of the application.  After the Oregon winner is selected, that person will then complete the essay portion, and the entire packet will be submitted to NAESP. To be eligible, the person must have five years experience as a principal, and plan to continue as a principal.  The award is not intended as an honor for a retiring principal. That person should also be a current member of both OESPA and NAESP.

The award is jointly sponsored by NAESP, the U.S. Department of Education, and corporate sponsor AIG.  State winners are treated to an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. in the fall.

The initial application (minus the essay questions) should be mailed to the COSA office by Friday, April 3.  Click here for the 2009 application packet.
