Looking for a way to recognize an outstanding superintendent?  Now is the time to nominate a worthy candidate for the 2009 Superintendent of the Year.

For the first-step of the Oregon Superintendent of the Year selection process, candidates (or their nominators) will complete a shortened form for an initial round of judging.  Then, once the statewide winner is selected, that person will then complete the remainder of the application.  With this procedure, it is possible for a colleague to complete the initial form.

The instructions and timelines for Oregon are as follows:

  • Nominees (or colleagues on behalf of nominees) may access the 2009 application by going to the AASA website: www.aasa.org/SOY.  The form may be downloaded, completed, and printed out.
  • Candidates should complete all sections except the five essay questions (# 1-5 on the form).  Section 6 should be completed.
  • Mail the completed application to the COSA office (not AASA, as it states on the form) by no later than September 30, 2008.
  • An OASE awards committee will review the applications and select the Oregon winner.
  • That person will be notified as asked to complete the remainder of the form, which will then be submitted to AASA.
