Time to nominate a colleague for assistant principal award Print E-mail

Are you looking for an opportunity to recognize that hard-working individual in your school—your assistant principal?  The Assistant Principal of the Year Award, sponsored by NASSP and Virco, provides the means to do that.  Your candidate should meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Must be a current member of OASSA and NASSP.
  • Must have been an assistant principal at a middle or high school for a minimum of two years.
  • Must currently be an active assistant principal.

As with other COSA awards, candidates should complete all parts of the application except the essay questions on Collaborative Leadership; Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment; and Personalization.  After the winner is selected, that person will then complete the questions to finalize the application.  This allows colleagues to actually submit an application on behalf of a colleague who may not submit it themselves.

The state winner will receive a trip to Washington, D.C., for an Assistant Principals’ Forum and Awards dinner, and will also be recognized at the Annual COSA Conference in June.

Completed applications (minus the essay questions) should be mailed to COSA staff member, Nancy Moen, by Monday, November 23.  Click here for the 2010 Application.
